How it works

Turmeric (a yellow spice) is a color-changer. When it touches something basic like baking soda water, it turns red. So a message you can't see turns into one you can!

What you will do

1. Dip a swab in the secret ink.
2. Write on the yellow paper. It turns red.
3. Or write a message for a friend.
4. Let it dry flat on your tray.

Try it at home

Ask a grown-up to help.

What you need:

Turmeric, rubbing alcohol, paper, baking soda, water, cotton swabs. The UV version needs a UV flashlight and tonic water.

Safety at home:

Turmeric stains clothes. Rubbing alcohol is flammable: an adult handles it.
